On Thursday the 20th of August the council
offices in Magherafelt played host to the London Irish Bowling
Association and Magherafelt Bowling Club. The London Irish
Bowling Association members were over visiting for a week and
hence they were invited by Vice-Chairperson Paul McLean for a
reception to celebrate their visit.
I spoke to the president of the London Irish
Bowling Association. Dick Cummins "We have enjoyed our time here
tremendously; the hospitality of the people in Northern Ireland
has been exceptional. During his week we played games at
Coleraine, City of Derry, Larne, Magherafelt, Limavady and
Cookstown. I wish to thank all the clubs we visited for their
hospitality and good will. I have been to Northern Ireland
twelve times but the Association has been coming every two years
since 1970.
Our
association has been going now since 1956 and we currently have
approximately three hundred members." If anyone would like to

Secretary of the Magherafelt Bowling club
Anthony Bates added “This is the first time that we have met the
London Irish Bowling Association however we hope that it will be
the first of many. We enjoyed our bowling match with the London
Irish Bowling Association which we held at Ritchie Pavilion at
the Bowling Green where Magherafelt Bowling Club came out
victorious with a grand total of five shots. It's great to be
invited by the
Vice-Chairperson Paul McLean to this reception.
We would like to thank the council and our President Andy Scott
and all the members of Magherafelt Bowling club over the past
year. We have currently twenty four members and we are looking
for new new members for next April when we will be starting to
bowl
again and we have also a ladies club too.
If
anyone would like join they can contact any
member of Magherfelt Bowling Club and they will be happy to
facilitate."
